If you have a Pardot Connector, the process for using the FastPass Registration feature is extremely easy:
Step 2: Add the FastPass token to the URL
Step 3: Include the URL In your Promotions
Step 1: Find the "Event URL"
First, copy down the "Event URL" for the content you are wishing to promote. This is the link to the public page for your Talk, video, or Replay. If you are not sure where this is, follow these steps:
- Go to your BrightTALK Central account
- From the side navigation, select "Channels" and click on the Channel where your content is.
- Click on "Manage" next to the content you want to promote.
- On the following page, click the link for "Event URL." This should give you a link that looks like this:
https://www.brighttalk.com/webcast/1166/542394?utm_source=BrightTALK&utm_medium=brighttalk&utm_campaign=542394
Step 2: Add the FastPass token to the URL
Now add the following parameter to the end of the URL:
&bt_tok={{Recipient.ID}}
That should give you a URL that looks like this:
https://www.brighttalk.com/webcast/1166/542394?utm_source=BrightTALK&utm_medium=brighttalk&utm_campaign=542394&bt_tok={{Recipient.ID}}
Step 3: Include that URL in your Email Promotions
When sending out email promotions from Pardot for your webinar, this link will automatically generate the FastPass token, and anyone who clicks it will be able to go through the FastPass registration process.
Note: currently this field will only be populated if the Pardot lead is also a lead or contact in Salesforce. If it is not, the value will be blank and the FastPass process will not work.
FAQs:
Q: I noticed there are UTM/tracking parameters automatically included in the Event URL. Do I need those for FastPass and can I change them?
A: Yes, these parameters can either be changed or removed altogether- it does not impact FastPass. Feel free to also include other tracking parameters like Pardot tokens.
Q: Does the FastPass token need to be added to the end of the URL?
A: It does not. As long as it's properly formatted as a query parameter, you can add it to any part of the query string.
Q: Can I shorten the link in bit.ly (or another site)?
A: I would not recommend it, as it may cause the dynamic portion (the token) to not get generated correctly.
